Barbecue Festival

The 25nd Annual Barbecue Festival is set for Saturday, October 25th, 2008. In addition to the festival, the City of Lexington and Davidson County officially declare October as 'Barbecue' month. Events are held throughout the month of October which leads to the grand finale, the Barbecue Festival.

Held in Uptown Lexington, an eight block stretch of Main Street is closed to traffic. More than four hundred exhibitors sell everything from handmade crafts to homemade fudge. Also a Juried competition featuring artists and craftsmen from across the country is held throughout two blocks of Main Street in front of the Arts Center for Davidson County. Five stages of entertainment showcase local and national artists and special section of rides and games for children, called Piglet Land are all highlights of the day's event And of course, barbecue is served at three locations throughout the festival area under large red and white tents. The master barbecue teams spend the day chopping barbecue, preparing red slaw, and serving French fries.
