Inaugural BBQ Capital Cook-off
In a town known world-wide for it's heritage of slow cooking meat over hickory wood, it is no wonder that we would have a KCBS santioned cook-off. If you love great barbecue, wine, and music, you’ll want to be in Lexington for the area’s first BBQ cook-off.  Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), the event is bringing competitive chefs and judges from across the United States.  Barbecue vendors will enable you to taste a wide variety of types of barbecue.  Other activities include a visit from the Johnsonville Brats Big Taste Grill, the Inaugural Southern Gateway Wine Festival, four bands, a classic motorcycle show, kids activities and much more! Check back for all the details...and check the BBQ Cook-off page!

Memorial Day Stroll & Cruise In
Come meet your friends and neighbors uptown. Listen to the Top 40 and Beach sounds of Greg and the BBQ Band in the square, a classic car cruise in around the squares and a Rap Contest on West Second Avenue. Plus arts activities coordinated by Arts United for Davidson County.

Come meet your friends and neighbors uptown. Listen to the jazz sounds of Reggie Buie and Diana Tuffin in the square. On West 2nd Avenue, come show off your line dancing skills with the Lexington Parks and Recreation Department. Come uptown for a little music, a little shopping, and a little dining! Plus arts activities coordinated by Arts United for Davidson County.

Cycling Stroll & Cruise In
Come uptown to ride on Main Street like the racers do during the July 9th Piedmont Triad Omnium! Listen to the country sounds of Kickin' Kountry Band in the square. And...coming soon...details about a Celebrity Tricycle Race and Kids Bike Rodeo! Plus arts activities coordinated by Arts United for Davidson County.

Back to School Stroll & Cruise In
Join our merchants for specials for your back to school needs...plus it's NC Tax Free Weekend. Listen to the Christian Contemporary Praise music of Sound of Light the square. And, on West Second Avenue, show off your best shagging moves with Brenda Holcomb with the Lexington Parks and Recreation Department. Come and Race, or Come and Watch an exciting 1.0 mile criterium in uptown Lexington.  Other races include a time trial and road race in and around Lexington. Barbecue Festival 5K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
Annual Running and Walking Event that is great fun for the entire family!
The 1- Mile Fun Run/Walk begins at 8 am, the 5K at 8:30 am. The 5K will proceed south to the 2.5K turn around and return to the start/finish line. The course is USATF certified with chip timing.
