GroundHawg's Day

February 2, 2008 may be Groundhog's Day in some parts of the country, but in Lexington, home of the barbecue capital of the world, it's GroundHawg's Day. Come uptown to the Square, the site where barbecue originated in Lexington, and meet Lil' Bit, Lexington's own pot-bellied pig prognosticator. If Lil' Bit sees her shadow, then Lexington will have six more week of winter, but if not, then spring is on it's way.

Many of the Lexington merchants offer spring or winter specials throughout the day, and some of the barbecue restaurants have been known to offer ½ price BBQ sandwiches, all in honor of Lil' Bit's predictions!
