National Night Out

The first Tuesday in August is known throughout the country as National Night Out, a night traditionally designed to encourage citizens to turn on their porch lights and come outside to talk with and meet their neighbors. Uptown Lexington is everyone's neighborhood, so the community comes together for a special night out festival. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., Main Street, from Center Street to Fourth Street is blocked off to traffic and residents fill the streets. Coordinated by the Lexington Police Department, there are exhibits by police, fire and safety units throughout Davidson County, live performances by area musicians, games for the kids, information booths set up by community organizations, and even free hotdogs and drinks while they last.

National Night Out is coordinated by the Lexington Police Department. For more information, contact Officer R. Todd Kepley at (336) 243-3303 or http://web.infoave.net/~tk378/lexingtonpd.html
