Design Assistance
Uptown Lexington, Inc. offers free design assistance for exterior façade improvements, parking lot design, and site improvements for properties located within the Uptown Lexington Municipal Service District. Funded by the City of Lexington and administered through the Façade Incentive Grant Program by Uptown Lexington, Inc., this incentive is intended to assist property owners and/or business owners in making good design choices that will enhance their individual properties and support Lexington’s streetscape and uptown district. Façade Incentive Grant Program
Properties within the Uptown Lexington Municipal Service District are eligible to receive an incentive grant through the Façade Incentive Grant Program. Funded by the City of Lexington and administered by Uptown Lexington, Inc., this incentive is intended to assist property owners and/or business owners in making good design choices that will enhance the unique architectural character of their individual building through an exterior improvement that will support Lexington’s streetscape and enhance their business. Grants funds must be matched and the design plan must be approved by the Uptown Lexington, Inc. Design Committee prior to any construction in order for an owner to be eligible for the funding. Redevelopment Zone
Lexington has a state redevelopment zone, designated by the State of North Carolina Secretary of Commerce, within the Uptown Lexington Municipal Service District. Eligible properties may be subject to grant funds and / or low interest loans for redevelopment of the property. All projects must be approved prior to any construction by Uptown Lexington, Inc., the City of Lexington, and the State of North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Community Assistance. Tax Credits for Historic Rehabilitation
Most properties located within the Uptown Lexington National Register Historic District are also eligible to receive a Tax Credit for Historic Rehabilitation. Under this program, owners of income producing properties may receive state and federal tax credits totaling 40% of the cost of the rehabilitation. City of Lexington Natural Gas Rebates
The City of Lexington offers both commercial and residential customer rebates.

Natural Gas Incentive Rebates
Water Heater Rebate = $150.00
Dryer Rebate = $50.00
Gaslight Rebate = $75.00
Range Rebate = $50.00

The City also offers a preferred natural gas rate for residential customers. To qualify, a customer must use natural gas for:

1. Primary heat Range or Dryer
2. Water heating
3. Range or Dryer

City of Lexington Electric Rebates
The City of Lexington offers both commercial and residential customer rebates when they install new electric water heaters and heat pumps, whether it is new construction or to replace existing equipment.
